About PAOM

The Philippine Academy of Management (PAoM) is an association that aims to empower and develop management scholars and practitioners in the Philippines. It is a non-profit and non-stock scholarly organization dedicated to the advancement of Philippine management theory and practice through academic conferences and publication, professional development activities, and collegial networking.

Among the main initiatives of the Philippine Academy of Management include the following:

  1. Research capability building seminars
  2. Research conferences
  3. Mentorship of young academics and doctoral students
  4. Publication of the PAoM e-Journal

Qualifications for Membership

  1. Persons with a doctorate or master’s degree in management or related field and who may be in the academe or are management practitioners.
  2. Occupation of practitioners must be in an executive or decision making capacity.
  3. Quality of the academic affiliation and that of the executive or decision making capacity must be reputable and recognized.
  4. Prospective members must have undertaken relevant research and are in continuing involvement in research in varying capacities as principal researcher, co-researcher, research manager, research adviser, and the like.
  5. Prospective member must be of good character and have a good professional reputation.
  6. Prospective member must be willing to support the objectives and goals of PAM.

Membership Classification

There are three types of membership, namely:

  1. Regular Members: Those with earned doctorate degrees in management or related fields, whether connected with academe or practitioners. Regular members have voting rights and are qualified to be elected as members of the Board of Governors.
  2. Associate Members: Those with master’s degrees in management or related fields whether connected to academe or practitioners.  Associate members have voting rights but are not qualified to be elected as members of the Board of Governors.  Membership may be converted to regular upon acquiring a doctorate degree.
  3. Student members: Those who are pursuing their master’s degrees in management or related fields.  Membership may be converted to associate upon acquiring a master’s degree, or to regular upon acquiring a doctorate degree.

Diversity Requirement

In order to maintain diversity in the PAM membership the number of Associate Members who are management practitioners will be held at a maximum of 25 per cent of the total membership.

A policy of selective inclusivity is to be exercised in membership recruiting.   This means that for as long as individuals are eligible based on the membership qualification  requirements they may be accepted into the organization without prejudice to nationality, religious creed, political affiliation or race.

Membership FEES

Membership dues are to be determined by the Board of Governors.  At the 1st Board Meeting of 16 July 2005, these have been set as follows:

  • Regular Members: P 1,500.00 per year
  • Associate Members: P 1,500.00 per year
  • Student Members: P 750.00 per year
