The Philippine Academy of Management (PAOM), in partnership with the National Business and Management Conference (NBMC), successfully held its first Capacity Building Workshop on “Responsible Management Research: Foundations for Business, Society, and Sustainable Development” last 6 August 2026.
The workshop was led by Dr. Prerna Tambay of Kingston University London, who guided participants through the principles of responsible management research and how these can be applied to address pressing challenges in the ASEAN region.
Dr. Tambay introduced the Responsible Research Canvas, a practical framework built around five key questions every researcher should ask:
- What societal challenge are we addressing?
- Who benefits?
- Who should be involved?
- Which methods best capture reality?
- How will impact be measured?
She left participants with a thought-provoking challenge: “If all your publications disappeared tomorrow, what would remain? The change in the world because of your research.”
Participants worked hands-on through the framework — from defining the research problem, to mapping stakeholders and methods, to envisioning real societal impact — walking away with concrete tools to turn research ideas into meaningful, actionable studies.
PAOM extends its sincere gratitude to Dr. Prerna Tambay for generously sharing her time, expertise, and insights with the academy’s community of researchers.
Watch out for the next installment in the NBMC 2026 Capacity Building Workshop series!
